Is there a tiller available or modifiable to be key start. 40 years of line work have left my shoulders unable to pull start ropes. Thanks Morris

Answer
Morris - we do not carry a key start tiller model, but how about a push button starter? The Husqvarna DRT900E has an electric start feature that allows you to start the engine by pushing a button instead of pulling on the starter cord. You would plug in the starter box to any household electrical outlet using a standard extension cord. Push the starter button and when the engine fires, you unplug the extension cord and start tilling. Click on this link to see the tiller: Husqvarna DRT900E

Can you please tell me the advantages and disadvantages of counter-rotating tines vs. dual rotating tines? I do have quite a bit of hard clay soil. Is counter-rotating best for that? Are there disadvantages I should be aware of? Thanks!

Answer
Robert,

Counter rotating tines are best for breaking new ground and digging through hard soil. The tines spin backward while the tiller moves forward allowing the tines to dig deeper into the soil. Dual rotating is nice because you have the option to switch from counter rotating to forward rotating when conditions require less aggressive tilling. Forward rotating works well for existing gardens and areas with loose soil.
