Q: Hi - I'm building a fence around my garden and am interested in the width of the Cub Cadet RT65 and Husqvarna DRT900/DRT900H so I know how wide I need to make the gate. Don't want to build a fence and find I can't get the tiller into the garden!
by Roger from Colorado on September 02, 2013

A: Roger,

We are looking at a max width of about 23" when the RT65 is fully assembled, and the DRT900/900H are the same size with a max width of about 20.5".

If you have any further questions, always feel free to contact me directly at 800-710-7499 Ext. 133.

I'm always happy to help!

Q: Is there a tiller available or modifiable to be key start. 40 years of line work have left my shoulders unable to pull start ropes. Thanks Morris
by Morris Grayson from Texas on March 05, 2012

A: Morris - we do not carry a key start tiller model, but how about a push button starter? The Husqvarna DRT900E has an electric start feature that allows you to start the engine by pushing a button instead of pulling on the starter cord. You would plug in the starter box to any household electrical outlet using a standard extension cord. Push the starter button and when the engine fires, you unplug the extension cord and start tilling. Click on this link to see the tiller: Husqvarna DRT900E
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: Hi. Will you explain the 'dual rotating' tines verses the 'counter rotating' tines. I am perplexed in buying between these two features. Thank you! Mike
by Mike from Pennsylvania on July 14, 2011

A: Mike - you may want to take a look at our buyer's guide for rear tine tillers. This will answer your question in detail, and give you some other things to think about and look for when choosing the right tiller. Just click on this link: Pick the perfect tiller
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: Where are the Husqvarna tillers mmanufactured. It seems as though the Briggs engines are made in the USA but what about the rest of the product.

Also, In reference to the tube bumper on the front of the DRT 900. If a product doesnt come with something why on earth would you portray it as such? Kind of deceptive if you ask me.

by Robert Cape from Pennsylvania on May 23, 2011

A: Robert - these tillers are manufactured in Orangeburg, SC and in Troy, NY. As for the image of the tiller showing the bumper, this is the "approved" product image that comes from Husqvarna. If you go the Husqvarna web site, or look at their 2010 or 2011 product catalogs, you will see the exact same image that appears on our web site.
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: thanks very much for answering the previous question. Is the difference between the CRT900 and DRT900 the counter rotating tines on the CRT and the bumper being the main difference? The description in the Husqvarna product book seems to say they both have dual rotation tines. thank you very much for your reply.
by Jason Crook from New Hampshire on May 18, 2011

A: Jason - A CRT model would have counter rotating tines only. A counter rotating tine model is suited for digging deeper into the soil and for tilling tightly compacted soil or clay-like soils. A DRT model is a dual rotating tine tiller. On a dual rotating model, the tines will either turn forward for cultivator-like tasks, or in a counter rotating fashion as described above. The CRT models are less expensive - the DRT models cost more, but are more versatile. NONE of the Husqvarna CRT or DRT model tillers include the front bumper as a standard feature.
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: the husqvarna dealer here in NH gave me a book w/all the Husq products. They show the DRT900 without the bumper as you show it, but the picture of the CRT900 or the CRT900LS (B&S and Honda engines respectively) in their book shows the models with the bumper and the exact photo that you show for the DRT. I was trying to find the difference between the two. Can you comment or straighten out my confusion? thank you.
by Jason Crook from New Hampshire on May 17, 2011

A: Jason - the DRT900 does not have a front bumper. We clearly state that in our description of this product on our web site that the front bumper is pictured but NOT included. None of the Husqvarna CRT or DRT tiller models include the front bumper as a standard feature.
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: I have two questions.
1) Do these Husqvarna tillers have a free wheeling or neutral position ?

2) Do the models that say they are equiped with a Briggs & Stratton actually come with a Briggs or do they actually come with one of the chinese knock offs that I have seen on some of their other products out there on the show room floors ?

by Bob Cape from Pennsylvania on May 15, 2011

A: Bob - yes, this tiller does have a neutral position that would allow you to push the tiller without the wheels being turned by the drive system. The Briggs engine on this tiller is a Briggs engine - manufactured by Briggs and Stratton.
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: Is the Husqvarna DRT900 17" dual rotating rear tine tiller self propelled?
by Sharon from Maryland on April 30, 2011

A: Hi Sharon - yes, this tiller has a chain gear drive system with one forward speed and one reverse speed, so the tiller does propel itself - it does not have to be pushed.
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: Does the Husqvarna DRT 900 rear tine tiller have a middle furrow plow?
by William Anderson from Georgia on March 26, 2011

A: Thanks for your inquiry. This tiller is not equipped with a middle furrow plow.
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: Hi again!
Are these brand new or reconditioned?
Thanks in advance!

Nicky

by Nicky from Tennessee on March 22, 2011

A: Thanks again for your inquiry. These tillers are brand new and not reconditioned in any way.
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: How do i get servicingwarranty if needed?
by Nick from Tennessee on March 22, 2011

A: Thanks for your inquiry. You take your tiller to a local Husqvarna servicing dealer where they would take care of any warranty work.
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: Todd, as far as reliability and lasting for years, would you personally buy a Husqvarna CRT 900, a Troy Bilt bronco 14 " (both the same price), or an Earthquake for around the same price?. Or some other brand you carry? Thanks, George
by George Gutknecht from Oregon on March 21, 2011

A: Thanks for your inquiry. This Husqvarna DRT900 would be your best choice. It is durable and will give you years of long lasting performance. It is our best selling model and we have seen no issues with them whatsoever.
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: Hi Todd, i've not gardened in some yrs. I no longer work so gonna try it this yr.
I've not used many tillers, and currently have a Troybilt Pony 5hp old model, rear tine, foward rotating.
This thing will kill you to use it. when it hits a hard spot, it will leap to the end of the garden.
Does all forward rotating do this ??
I am interested in the Husqvarna drt900.
Is this shipped to my home ?
What type of warranty ?
Thanks Dave

by Dave from Kentucky on March 19, 2011

A: Thanks for your inquiry. This DRT900 tiller is one of our higher end tillers. It is easy to use and will give you years of durability and great performance.
We can ship this model directly to your home and the tiller has a two year warranty through Husqvarna.

Not Too Sure Yet.
I purchased my DRT900 on February 23, 2012 and it was delivered on March 1, 2012. So far so good. No issues putting it together. Followed instructions and everything went fine. Added oil and gas and it started on the third pull. Not bad for a brand new tiller. Walked it to the back yard, running just fine. Started to till the area for the new garden. I live in NC and the soil is red clay but not compacted and was easy to till.

New garden is 25 feet long. Tilled one row and then... more

Not Happy At All
Sold my old Troy-Bilt Horse tiller and bought a Husqvarna DRT-900 based on Husq name. I have a number of Husqvarna chainsaws I use regularly on the farm and have had no problems in the years I've used them - tiller's another matter.

In the almost 5 years I've had it, it's spent more time in the shop than in the garden. Within two months the tranny went out - repaired under warranty. Next Spring the shift mechanism went out (first of three times) and the repair shop caught a prospective... more

Husqvarna Drt900
I purchased my tiller on Monday 22 Aug 2011 it arrived on Friday 26 Aug. I had the lift gate service, the driver pallet jacked it into the garage. It took half an hour to assemble. Mine came with the front bumper, which I was not expecting? However It has no engine oil dipstick, supposedly its optional???

I used it for an hour on Friday evening, it performs very well breaking up new ground. If you follow the owners manual there is no problem with drive selection. Yes it is fairly... more

Great Machine
This is my first rototiller purchase. After many hours of researching I decided on this rototiller. It is a nice machine...starts FIRST pull every time. Easy to run. Shifter is clunky at times, but think this is because it is built strong. I just pull the handle lever in and it goes into gear easily. Really digs well and with the tines going in reverse, really goes deep. My soil is like sand. Thank you, Husqvarna!

Our New Tiller
We ordered the Husqvarna rototiller from mowers direct. The tiller arrived in two days and was easy to assemble and to use. The truck driver who delivered our tiller right out to the farm was very cordial and really seemed to me that he enjoyed delivering new equipment to people.

We have been truly happy with the tiller although we can't use it much now we look forward to using it quite a bit in the future. Thank you mowers direct for your business on the web.

Husqvarna Drt900
Received tiller from MowerDirect via R&L Carriers. After unpacking and fast assembly, added gas, first pull start up. Excellent. Took it to vegetable garden and tilled unused area per operation instructions. It worked like a champ. Would recommend the tiller and MowersDirect to a friend. I bought a snow blower last fall and had the same great experience.

Thanks!

Great Tiller, Lower Price Than Big Box Stores...
I looked for a tiller for our medium size garden. I settled on the DRT900 because of the features. Nowadays, you pay a premium for the name "Troy Bilt" and they aren't as good as they were. This DRT900 is awesome and has all the features, All the controls you need are at the handle, it has reverse, and the two tine modes depending on the job. I researched the DRT900, and saved almost $125 by buying from MowersDirect over the big box home improvement stores. Stores here wanted $63... more

Husky Drt900
I probably did not need this much tiller, but for a few decades I have always heard to get a rear tine if you get one. I did a lot of research to see which model got the best and most consistent rating, and read the bad reviews mainly to judge what similar problems may be.

I decided upon the DRT900 with the Briggs engine rather than the Honda due to a few better ratings. The added plus was the Briggs was slightly cheaper. I have used this tiller so far to uproot flower beds and till the... more

Great From Start To Finish!
This Husqvarna rototiller was my first purchase from Mowers Direct, and I couldn't be happier. After reading reviews, comparing with other brands & models, and shopping prices, I decided on this model from Mowers Direct. The freight service called me the day before scheduled delivery & gave me a one hour delivery window, and arrived right in the time frame - I've never experienced such great service! The driver unloaded the tiller & took it right to my garage door. Easy to... more
