CARB is an acronym for California Air Resource Board, and has to do with the emissions that are associated with small power equipment engines. CARB-compliant products have engines that meet more stringent air-quality standards. If your state requires compliance for gas powered equipment, confirm that your model is CARB-certified before you buy. While CARB-compliant models run cleaner than noncompliant models, they still emit some pollutants.
