Q: On a tiller, do you have to drain the oil and gas when it's not in use?
by Rodney from California on August 24, 2013

A: Rodney,

If your talking for a week or two, you do not have to drain the oil or gas. If you are talking about a few months of inactivity, then there are some storage tips that will lead to a longer, happier existence for your machine.

Unless your fuel is treated with a proper stabilizer, you need to get that old gas out. Siphon it out into an appropriate container, and run the machine till it dies. With the right additive, the fuel can remain for up to one year.

You don't need to change the oil before storage, it can wait until the new season so you are starting off your season with fresh clean lubrication.

If you have any further questions, always feel free to contact me directly at 800-710-7499 Ext. 133.

Q: Is there a tiller available or modifiable to be key start. 40 years of line work have left my shoulders unable to pull start ropes. Thanks Morris
by Morris Grayson from Texas on March 05, 2012

A: Morris - we do not carry a key start tiller model, but how about a push button starter? The Husqvarna DRT900E has an electric start feature that allows you to start the engine by pushing a button instead of pulling on the starter cord. You would plug in the starter box to any household electrical outlet using a standard extension cord. Push the starter button and when the engine fires, you unplug the extension cord and start tilling. Click on this link to see the tiller: Husqvarna DRT900E

I Did Not Believe It Would Start The First Pull
After I received the instructions I found that I had unpackaged it the wrong way however I had no problems. One part told me to put oil in the engine and the engine said it was full. I did add some oil which promptly ran out the overflow port . It did crank on the first pull my first project was a new garden spot with heavy grass which it promptly tilled the full depth. The only problems I have encountered is the gear shift sometimes is hard to move into the till mode and long grasses as... more
Pros: Price, Features, I'd Buy It Again, Durable
Cons: Bad Instructions, It Is Hard To Read The Unpacking Instructions When There Inside

"I chose not to have the lift to unload and backed my pickup to the delivery truck and before I could get out and help the driver he had the tiller on the pickup. He even ask if he could help unload off the pickup. He was very helpful."

Great Small Powerfull Tiller
This review is based on one month of ownership and two uses.

I recommend this 14" tiller for smaller areas, or hard soil. I tilled a 2,000 s.f. garden and it's nice to have the smaller tiller to turn around in a tight space and till hard packed soil without a big tine pulling you around. When I say small I don't mean weak or flimsy. It has plenty of power and a nice "heavy" weight to it, more like a bulldog compared to the Big Red tiller I used to use years ago that was more... more

Happy With The Tiller
The packaging on this is good and very difficult to get out if you are solo trying to get it out. So far the tiller has done a great job chewing through some tough soil that had many rocks in it. Didn't seem to lose any power. The only gripe I have is how wide the tilled area is. The shifter rod when I got it was on backwards, not sure how that happened. Took me a second to see that it kept rubbing on the drive assembly.
Pros: Price, Easy To Store, I'd Buy It Again
Cons: Packaging

Poor Quality, Cheap Transmission
I purchased this tiller today. I assembled it and it started on the first pull, good engine. The transmission broke after one minute in loose soil. I understand that I may have the only one that broke immediately, but as I looked at the warranty, it states that the transmission is not covered, You have been warned.
Cons: Low Quality, Unreliable, Durability

Older Guy Needed Easier To Operate Tiller
I'm getting on in years and the old tiller I had finally gave out. It was difficult to maneuver and very weighty. I read the reviews on the Husqvarna rear tine and decided to try it. It is a great deal easier to maneuver, it's lighter in weight and has been operating like a charm. Even though I have some shoulder and leg problems, I can still do a 24' by 36' garden without too much problem. I can say that so far, this tiller is great for turning up the soil and cultivating.
Pros: Features, Easy To Use, Price, High Quality
Cons: Could Use A Shorter Gear Shifter

Nice Tiller
The only thing I can complain about is that the Briggs and Stratton engine on the tiller is Made In CHINA, I would have been happy to pay more for a Made in the USA engine! I'm so sick of all these sellouts, what do we make anymore?

Good Product
Prompt Customer Service...No Damage Upon Delivery.
Briggs Ohv Engine Very Smooth/Easy to Start. Counter-Rotating Tines Make Machine Very Easy to Operate.
Transmission a Little Clunky At First...Then Smoothed Out...Machine Makes Short Work of Even Hard Compacted Soils..
If Machine Hold Up I Will Have to Give It An a+++++....Well Worth the Money.

Husqvarna Crt900
I bought this tiller because I needed to open up a new garden space in what had been lawn. My old Troy-Bilt Junior just was not up to the task. This tiller is unstoppable in chewing up sod and breaking new ground. The ground was a bit rocky, but the tiller had no trouble in pulling up fist sized rocks so I could pick them up. After breaking ground, I tilled in a huge amount of black dirt to the clay and sand that had supported the lawn. Not a problem for the new tiller. I now have a beautiful... more

Great Tiller
The assembly instructions for the handle were a bit confusing, but I figured it out. I was really impressed with how easy it started. I filled the tank with gas, moved the lever to the choke position and pulled the starter cord 1 time and it started immediately. I would reccomend this product.
Pros: Easy To Use, Price, Exceeded Expectations, Reliable
Cons: Bad Instructions

Great Tiller
I bought this tiller about three years ago and it's been completely reliable. I live in the Texas Hill Country just north of San Antonio and the ground here is very hard and rocky. We joke we have a quarter inch of topsoil and 5000 feet of limestone. Tiller does well even here. It's a heavy duty workhorse and I'm glad I bought it. Other than changing the oil and lubing it, I've done nothing but use it.
Pros: Easy To Use, Reliable, Features, High Quality

I have not had any problems with the tiller it runs great. I would highly recommend this product.

The shipping crate could have been a little stronger, the pallet was busted, but no damage to tiller.
